BOOK LIST: Middle Grade Mysteries

I know that it can sometimes be a challenge when a student or child says they want to read a certain type of book: a funny graphic novel, something set during the American Revolution, a fantasy adventure, something like Harry Potter, etc. From time to time, I’d like to share with you some reading suggestions by genre, theme, or readalikes in the hopes it might help you find the right book for the right readers.

These lists will just be starting points to hopefully point you in the right direction. I plan to update these lists over time to reflect newer titles, but please know you can always reach out to me if you are in need of further suggestions after exploring the books on these lists.

First up, I’d like to share some middle grade mystery fiction books! Suggested reading ages will be included for each book – please note that these are just suggestions, as some readers may be reading outside of their current grade level. There is a lot of reading growth that happens with young people at these ages, but I hope these descriptions will at least help steer you towards readability and content for students largely in grades 3-7.

You can click on the image below to open up a printable PDF of the book list, or you can also access it (along with the other book lists as they become available) at the Book Lists link at the top of the website.

Enjoy!
